About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Livermore, CA, Louise's Fish & Chips is a beloved seafood restaurant that has mastered the art of traditional fried fare. Offering an inviting, no-frills atmosphere, this family-owned gem serves up hearty, crispy delights that celebrate classic fish and chips while going well beyond the ordinary.

The star of the menu is undoubtedly the iconic Fish & Chips, featuring perfectly battered and golden-fried pollock that delivers a satisfying crunch with every bite, paired with generous portions of hot, crispy chips. For those who crave variety, the 2 Combo 2 Fish with 5 Shrimp and Chips or the Combo One Fish, Five Prawns & Chips provide an abundant, flavorful feast, allowing you to savor multiple seafood favorites in one meal. Other standout entrées like Clams & Chips and Calamari & Chips showcase the kitchen’s expert hand at crafting tender, juicy seafood with a perfectly crisp batter that leaves a lingering, savory goodness.

Louise’s doesn’t stop at fish and prawns — the sides offer an equally tempting array of options. Indulgent bites like Tempura Onion Rings and Jalapeño Poppers bring a delightful contrast of textures and flavors, while lighter options such as the Small Coleslaw provide a refreshing balance. Each bite is elevated with house-made dips like the tangy 8oz Cocktail Sauce or creamy Tartar Sauce. The dedication to quality ingredients and time-honored preparation makes every dish an irresistible comfort food experience.

The dining experience at Louise's Fish & Chips is warmth and simplicity wrapped in each order. The modest, local setting welcomes diners looking for a relaxed, genuine meal without pretense. Customers often praise the friendly, attentive service, and the feeling that you’re supporting a longstanding community favorite with a genuine connection to Livermore’s culture.

Regulars like 'A New Morning View ScottnTina' share their affection for the restaurant, highlighting the consistent, satisfying flavors across the menu — from the fish and chips to the addictive fried zucchini and onion rings. Jessi McNulty affectionately regards Louise’s as a cherished “hole in the wall” that holds a special place in local history, offering hard-to-find quality seafood that keeps patrons coming back for decades.

David Gonzalez’s excitement for the menu variety echoes the enthusiasm many feel: “More options than just fish n chips... prawns, clams, calamari, beer battered rings, zucchini, mushrooms, and more!” This variety makes Louise’s a perfect spot to mix and match favorites, creating personalized meals that satisfy seafood lovers and fried food aficionados alike.

For those seeking pure comfort food, Michael Lee aptly describes Louise's as “the epitome of comfort food,” praising its rich, glutinous deep-fried offerings that resonate with traditional British-style fish and chips, reminiscent of iconic eateries like H. Salt Fish & Chips.

While some guests, like Tobesmash, note that the frying style leans on the greasier side, it’s clear that the flavors and portion sizes make Louise’s a well-loved guilty pleasure where you can indulge without regret, especially when accompanied by an ice-cold beverage like a classic Coke or refreshing Thai Tea.

For anyone in the Tri-Valley area craving authentic, generously portioned seafood fries with a wholesome, homegrown vibe, Louise's Fish & Chips stands out as the go-to destination. Between the crispy textures, bold flavors, and warm neighborhood feel, it’s easy to see why this unassuming spot continues to be a cornerstone of Livermore’s dining community.

One of our favorite local spots to have an easy relaxed dinner. We like to order fish & chips and mushrooms. The onion rings and fried zucchini are delicious as well. I guess I can say over the years I’ve tried everything on the menu and have not been disappointed. Thank you Louise’s!

This little spot would probably be considered a hole in the wall, but it is absolutely a beloved part of Livermore culture and history. Opened for decades, Louise's offers the tri-valley hard to find quality fried fish options. Traditionally fried with a side of fries, the menu boasts filet, prawn, oyster, clams and more as well as delicious sides. The restaurant itself is modest with only four tables, as it is small inside, but that doesn't put a damper on the experience. If you have a hankering for Fish n chips, Louise's is the place to be.

I was looking in the area for good fish and chips and I stumbled into the best by far, so far! Friendly family owned and operated. More options than just "fish n chips"... prawns, clams, calamari, beer battered rings, zucchini, 'shrooms and more! Mix and match a classic combo number and add a side to make a 3way for under 20 bucks!

Louise's is the epitome of comfort food; they're probably the only restaurant in this area that does truly glutinous, delicious deeply fried fish and chips - and I love it! It's so heavy, but so good at the same time. And it's not just fish - they apply the same fantastic fry to shrimp, oysters, calamari, mushrooms, etc. It's very similar to what you would get at an H. Salt Fish & Chips. Their pricing is competitive - for example, I easily feed a family of four on combo pack alone ($40 for 6 fish, 16 shrimp, and fries). I typically order over the phone for in-store pickup, and the turnaround time for this is quick - most of my orders seem to be ready within 15 minutes of placing. The restaurant itself is clean - the owner and his staff remain masked at all times, and work behind plastic barriers when prepping the food. The staff is also very pleasant and inviting.

Overall this place is pretty decent. The fish is pollock, and not cod, in case you are wondering. The lady is very nice and the store and more importantly the fryers are very clean. Fries were decent, fish was decent but super greasy, mozzarella sticks were delicious. Id say its more of a guilty pleasure meal. After eating all this grease we had to of course wash it down with an ice cold Coke.

We got fish & chips, mushrooms, oysters. They’re fresh and tasty. It’s a bit warm inside since the fryers are right next to the register.

We each had the Scott’s #7 item (one piece of fried fish and fries). Cooked to order, obviously, so it took a few mins. Delicious! The battering on the fish was light and crispy, and wasn’t greasy. The fries were the double-fried kind, so they were extra crunchy. The cole slaw we also got was very good. Cute place, but only 6 tables. Friendly service. A must-go to place!

One of the best fish and chips places I have had for sure! I love the breading and i love the prawn. Comes with all dips you could really think of. Maybe a bit on the higher price side, with a 15% tip on a no2 combo with a drink i pay $25. Over all, give it a shot, pretty good.
